TRUFFLES WINES

Our wine selection has been carefully put together to both compliment our menu and reflect the best of what is available in today’s world of wine. We have chosen the wines on merit and not on the size of the marketing budget behind them, generally they are from small family owned estates and so many of the producers names may be unfamiliar to you, but be assured each is a fine example of it’s type and we hope you will enjoy them.

Heggies Chardonnay 2007, Eden Valley, South Australia

One of Australia’s best examples of ‘cool climate’ winemaking. The fruit for this opulent wine comes from a single vineyard site high in the hills overlooking the glorious Eden Valley and shows the heights that this ubiquitous grape can reach. The label depicts the late founder of the vineyard, Colin Heggie, looking out over the vineyard astride his beloved Australian shorthorse ‘Jack’.

We think their investment has paid off.

Aged in French and American barriques, the resulting wine is rich and concentrated with ripe berry flavours and well balanced vanillan oak. To improve ageing potential, the wine is only lightly filtered at the winery and so has a sediment.
